Beach
A sandy shore by the sea.
Vara mergem la plajă la Constanța.
In summer we go to the beach in Constanța.
'Plajă' comes from the French 'plage', which means a beach. The term became common in Romanian as seaside tourism gained popularity in the 20th century.
'Plajă' is used mainly in informal contexts, such as conversations about vacation, but is also found in travel brochures and advertisements. It is well understood along the Romanian coastline.
